HKMA Issued Consultation Paper on Regulated Stablecoin Activities

On May 26, 2025, the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) released a consultation paper aimed at addressing AML/CFT risks associated with stablecoin activities. Public consultation is open until June 30, 2025.

The proposal covers issuance, redemption, ongoing monitoring, and stablecoin transfers, with a focus on mitigating risks related to unhosted wallets and secondary markets.
