On July 25, 2025, Hasto Kristiyanto, Secretary-General of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P), was found guilty of bribery and sentenced to three years and six months in prison, along with a Rp 250 million fine. The verdict stemmed from his involvement in a scheme to secure a House of Representatives seat for politician Harun Masiku by paying Rp 600 million to a former election commissioner. While prosecutors also charged Hasto with obstructing justice in the related investigation, the court found insufficient evidence to support that allegation. Notably, prosecutors had originally sought a seven-year sentence and a higher fine.
