On 26 December 2024, Nenad Nešić, Bosnia’s Security Minister and leader of the Democratic People’s Alliance (DNS), was arrested along with six others on charges of organized crime, money laundering, abuse of office, and bribery. These charges stem from his role as general manager of the public company ‘Roads of RS’ from 2016 to 2020. The investigation, conducted by the state prosecutor and Bosnia’s Serb Republic Interior Ministry, focuses on corruption within the company. Nešić’s political party is in coalition with Milorad Dodik’s SNSD, which has criticized the prosecution as politically motivated. Bosnia is under pressure to fight corruption as part of its EU accession process.
