On 7 June 2025, Sorina Pintea, Romania’s former Health Minister and manager of the County Hospital in Baia Mare, was sentenced to three years and six months in prison for accepting €10,000 and 120,000 lei as a percentage of a hospital procurement contract. Her appeal was dismissed as unfounded, and she was subsequently identified by police for incarceration at Gherla Penitentiary.
